The stunning first full-length trailer for Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast movie was a massive hit. Entertainment Weekly reports that the trailer picked up an enormous 127.6 million views worldwide in the 24 hours since it debuted on Monday. That's more than any other trailer ever.

Fifty Shades Darker had the previous record, with 114 million views in 24 hours. Beauty and the Beast's teaser, which was released in May and racked up 91.8 million views, beat the record set by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (88 million views). Watch the record-breaking trailer again below.

Beauty and the Beast comes to theaters on March 17, 2017. Disney has described the film as a "re-telling" of the 1991 animated classic, tailored for a "contemporary audience." It will stay true to the original music, while adding some new tunes as well.

Emma Watson plays Belle, while Dan Stevens portrays Beast. Luke Evans plays Gaston, alongside Josh Gad as LeFou. The new Beauty and the Beast also features CG versions of Lumiere (Ewan McGregor), Cogsworth (Ian McKellan), and Mrs. Potts (Emma Thompson), Kevin Kline plays Belle's father, Maurice.

The movie is directed by Bill Condon, who was behind the camera for the final two Twilight movies. You can see nine images from the film here or in the gallery below.

Beauty and the Beast is not the first live-action take on a classic Disney movie, as the company released Maleficent and The Jungle Book in recent years. Disney is also developing live-action versions of Snow White, Mulan, The Lion King, and Aladdin, while a second Jungle Book is also on the way.
