Destiny's Sparrow Racing, Halloween Events Return This Year

Most of the interest in Destiny right now is for its upcoming expansion, Rise of Iron, which launches next month. But developer Bungie recently shared some of its plans for content drops after the expansion launches. Specifically, it announced that Festival of the Lost and Sparrow Racing League are coming back.
In Game Informer's Destiny: Rise of Iron cover story, Bungie hinted at what's in store for the game in the coming months. First, it shared that Festival of the Lost will take place again. The Halloween-themed event was first added to Destiny last year, and it tasks players with completing quests to track down 16 masks. Wearing masks while fighting enemies lets you complete special challenges to gain rewards. This year's iteration will include new masks and gear to hunt for.
Secondly, you'll once again be able to race other Guardians in Sparrow Racing League this December, but this year's SRL will have some pretty significant changes. Although you'll still certainly get to race around on your Sparrow, Bungie is adding some other options for players who don't want to race, but still want to join in on the event.
Live team director Jerry Hook told Game Informer, "When we talk about SRL coming back, it'll probably be wrapped in a different style, not just focused around SRL. Because some of the stuff that we learned from our players around the Sparrow Racing League is that some people didn’t like racing. So, can you do something with the event that helps support those players a little bit differently? Absolutely."
In addition, SRL will add several new tracks that are inspired by the aesthetics of the Rise of Iron expansion and its new playable area, the Plaguelands.
Rise of Iron launches on September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One, and we recently learned a whole lot more about the expansion. Keep an eye on GameSpot for more news about Rise of Iron in the coming weeks.
