Rockstar Games' PS2 and Xbox classic The Warriors is now available to download and play on the PlayStation 4.
The Warriors is based on the movie of the same name and, unlike the studio's Grand Theft Auto series, is focused more on brawling. It is available on the PlayStation store for £11.99.
"New York, 1979. A battle on the streets. The armies of the night number 60,000 strong, and tonight they’re all after The Warriors--a street gang wrongly accused of killing a rival gang leader," reads the product description.
"The Warriors must make their way from one end of New York to their turf on the other side of the city. All that stands between The Warriors and their survival are 20 miles and thousands of street gang members."
The PS4 version features "full 1080p up-rendering and enhanced features such as Trophies, Shareplay, Remote Play, Activity Feeds and Second Screen support for game manuals with PS Vita or PS App."
The product description notes that the game was converted from the PS2 version and, as a result, there "may be times where the title plays differently from the PS2 version."
The Warriors was first released for PS2 and Xbox in 2005. It was then re-released for PlayStation 3 in 2013. In GameSpot's The Warriors review, it was awarded an 8.6.
"With its unrelenting obsession with nailing the details of the film's universe, its quality action, and its breadth of content, The Warriors is easily one of the better pure-action games to come out this year," said reviewer Alex Navarro.
"It's a game that clearly goes out of its way to do more than just rehash a previously told story, as many games based on films tend to do. Again, though, this is not a game in which you have to have seen the original movie to understand and enjoy it; but if anything, it'll make you want to go out of your way to see the movie, just to see how it plays out and compares to the game experience."
