Halo 5: Guardians may already be more than a year old, but developer 343 Industries seems to be far from finished when it comes to continued support.

In addition to new maps on the way, 343 has now revealed further tweaks and additions it plans to make. In its latest weekly blog post, the developer outlined some of these, beginning with improvements for Halo 5's servers. While the overall online experience is "pretty great," the developer said, it's also aware of "a few specific issues that seem to be increasing in prominence."

Thankfully, 343 is on the case and plans to update Halo 5 with some improvements soon.

"As a commitment to sustaining a fun and enjoyable online experience along with a consistent and fair competitive landscape, the team is actively investigating these reports," 343 said. "In fact, I'm told there will be a very small update pushed out tentatively as early as next week that's strictly under-the-hood work to further assist in identifying the root causes of reported instances of higher-than-usual latency, disconnects as well as melee registration to help facilitate a fix."

The developer also teased that a "Classic" playlist is coming to Halo 5 "relatively soon." No details were provided regarding what this playlist may entail, however.

Also in the blog post, 343 discussed Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The compilation game had a tough launch in November 2014, with issues abounding. 343 said in the update that "nobody here has forgotten the launch issues and how it impacted the Halo community. It's something that everyone in this studio lives through every day."

The game has no doubt gotten better, and it is currently played by "a lot of people," 343 said. Still, "it's not perfect," the studio admitted. There are some "oddities and inconsistent behaviors" affecting the experience, according to 343. As for future patches to fix these problems, there is no guarantee they will ever happen, but 343 is monitoring the situation.

"While I can't definitively commit to specific fixes at this exact moment, rest assured that MCC continues to be discussed and researched internally as part of the broader 'Halo sustain' plans and priorities, including the potential of playlist refreshes," the developer said.

Also in the blog post, 343 confirmed that it has no plans right now to add a Halo: Reach-style Firefight mode to Halo 5.

Going back to Halo 5, the game's newest free content update was September's Anvil's Legacy, which was the ninth free expansion. Halo 5's other expansions included The Battle of Shadow and Light (November), Cartographer's Gift (December), Infinity's Armor (January), Hammer Storm (February), Ghosts of Meridian (April), Memories of Reach (May), Hog Wild (May), and Warzone Firefight (June).

The future update will add more maps for Warzone Firefight, new Forge canvases, an "improved spectator experience," and the ability to join live custom games on Xbox One and Windows 10 PC.
