Heroes of the Storm's New Healer Brings Dead Allies Back to Life

    Having already revealed she was coming, Blizzard has finally detailed Heroes of the Storm's next character, Auriel. In short, she's a Support who heals teammates in a unique way and has a Heroic ability that makes her really stand out.
    Auriel's trait builds up energy when she takes or deals damage; she also builds it by activating the trait on an ally, causing their damage to be converted into energy. One of her abilities, Ray of Hope, then heals allies in a targeted area for an amount dictated by how much energy she's built up.

    More interesting is one of her two Heroics, Resurrect. When her teammates die, they leave behind a spirit. By channeling on it for three seconds, she can bring back that person back with 50 percent of their maximum health at the spot they died.
    Here's her full kit, as explained by Blizzard:
    [h=4]Trait[/h]Bestow Hope (D)

    • Activate to bestow an allied Hero with Hope. Damage that Hero deals while they are nearby will cause you to store Energy. Bestow Hope can only be active on one Hero at a time.
    • Passive: 40% of the damage you deal to Heroes and 8% of your damage dealt to non-Heroes is stored as Energy.
    [h=4]Basic Abilities[/h]Sacred Sweep (Q)

    • Damages enemies in a wide arc and deals bonus damage to enemies caught in the center.
    Ray of Hope (W)

    • Consume all of your stored Energy to Heal allied Heroes in the target area. The amount of Healing done is based on the amount of Energy spent.
    Detainment Strike (E)

    • Deals damage to the first enemy Hero struck and knocks them back. If the target collides with terrain, they are also Stunned for 1.25 seconds and take additional damage.
    [h=4]Heroic Abilities[/h]Crystal Aegis (R)

    • Place an allied Hero into Stasis for 2 seconds. Upon expiration, Crystal Aegis explodes, damaging nearby enemies.
    Resurrect (R)

    • Allied Heroes leave behind a spirit on death. Channel on a spirit for 3 seconds to bring that ally back to life with 50% of their maximum Health at their death location.
    Auriel will be available on the game's Public Test Realm on August 2. Assuming all goes well, she'll be released in the live game the following week. You can check out the first batch of skins that will be available for her on Blizzard's website.
    This week saw a new balance patch for Heroes of the Storm released. Some of Chromie's talent choices are now more attractive, while Greymane, Brightwing, Kerrigan, and a few others get slight nerfs. Also of note are the buffs to Gul'dan, the game's most recent addition, and tweaks to Medivh's portals to make them easier to use. You can see the full patch notes here.
