With his work on Baywatch and Fast & Furious 8 finished, the ever-busy Dwayne Johnson is about to start shooting his third film of the year--the Jumanji sequel. Johnson has taken to Instagram to reveal some concept art of his character in the upcoming movie. Check him out as the heroic adventurer Dr Bravestone:
[IMG]The new Jumanji was first announced in April, and it was presumed that it would be a reboot of the much-loved '90s adventure fantasy. However, last month Johnson revealed that the film would in fact be a sequel.
"In two weeks I'll reunite with ol' friends Kevin Hart and Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of Jumanji," he wrote on Instagram. "For the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome Jumanji story."
Jake Kasdan, the son of legendary Star Wars writer Lawrence Kasdan, is directing, and the film opens on July 28, 2017. Earlier this week it was announced that Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Who star Karen Gillan had joined the cast.
The original 1995 Jumanji starred Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, and Bonnie Hunt. Williams' character became stuck in a board game as young boy before being set free (along with other creatures and characters) in the modern day. Lots of craziness ensues, including elephants charging down main street. The movie ended with the game still existing, setting up a potential sequel.
