Netflix drama Bloodline--a thrilling show about a Florida family with deep, dark secrets--is getting a third season, the streaming network announced today.
The renewal comes not long after Season 2 premiered at the end of May. Ten new episodes will debut in 2017, though a specific start date has not been announced. Season 1 had 13 episodes, but Season 2 scaled back to 10.
[IMG]Creators Todd A Kessler, Glenn Kessler, and Daniel Zelman will return to produce the third season. They previously created the Glenn Close drama Damages.
Main cast members Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Ben Mendelsohn, Linda Cardellini, and Norbert Leo Butz will return for Season 3 in their Rayburn family roles. The first two seasons were shot mainly in the Florida Keys, but it remains to be seen if Season 3 will follow suit.
"Todd, Daniel, and Glenn have created a riveting family saga featuring one of the most talented ensembles in the history of television," Netflix content VP Cindy Holland said in a statement. "We can't wait to see what the next chapter holds for the all-too-human Rayburns."
The renewal is good news for Bloodline fans, as Season 2 ended with a massive cliffhanger.
While Bloodline's first season was widely praised by critics, Season 2 didn't get such a positive response. John Leguizamo and Andrea Riseborough joined the show for its second season.
