The player count for Rocket League has reached 19 million, developer Psyonix has revealed. The announcement was made on Twitter, where the studio thanked fans.
"Congrats everyone! We've officially reached 19 million players for Rocket League! We are humbled by your passion. Thank you!"
On July 8, Rocket League officially became one year old, and Psyonix marked the occasion by detailing some impressive milestones the game had reached.
At the time, it had attracted more than 18 million players, who played 545 million matches. Over 6.2 million copies of the game had been sold, with 5.5 million DLC packs to go along with it.
The PS4 was cited as the game's top platform--likely thanks to it launching in July 2015 as a free PlayStation Plus game--with Xbox One and PC both tied. An average of 1.1 million players still play every day.
Although Rocket League launched digitally, a physical version of the game has since become available. Psyonix has maintained a steady stream of content updates for the game since launch.
One of the the major updates to the game has allowed players across Xbox One and PC to play together. Psyonix has said it is prepared to allow PS4 and Xbox One players to play against one another, but that will first require an arrangement between Sony and Microsoft. This deal has not yet been reached.
