Spider-Man PS4 Release Date Not Coming Anytime Soon

Don't expect Sony or Insomniac Games to announce the release date for the Ratchet & Clank developer's upcoming PlayStation 4 Spider-Man game anytime soon.
Responding to a fan on Twitter today (via DualShockers), the Insomniac Games account said, "All we said was there was no release date. Likely not going to announce one anytime soon."
This comment came in response to a question about a listing for the Spider-Man game on GameStop, which showed a December 26, 2017 release date. "That's a placeholder. No release date right now," the developer explained.
As of July 6, GameStop's website still lists Spider-Man's release date as December 26, 2017.
[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]Spider-Man, which is a working title for the PS4 game, is the first licensed game Insomniac has ever made. Insomniac recently confirmed that the impressive trailer from E3 (watch it above) was shot entirely in-engine and was captured on the current PS4, not the upcoming high-end Neo model.
The game was unveiled at E3 2016, and has since been confirmed to be a standalone experience not tied to next year's Spider-Man: Homecoming. The game will let players "take control of an experienced Peter Parker who is more masterful at fighting crime."
"I think we've been inspired by all the different mediums that Marvel has, whether it's film, animation, live-action, comic books, even t-shirts," Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann said previously.
"So we're looking at everything and we're blending it all together. But it's standalone; all new story, all new world. We're always stretching, we're always challenging, we're always moving the characters forward."
In other news about the game, Insomniac has confirmed the development team working on it is "huge," while it's being made on the same engine used for this year's new Ratchet & Clank PS4 game.
