In an unexpected blast from the past, Ubisoft and Mattel have announced the Uno video game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be available via digital download from August 9, and is developed by Ubisoft Chengdu.
[IMG]The game is based off the successful colour and matching card game Uno, which was first invented in 1971. It's not the first Uno video game to be released, with recent versions of the game hitting last-generation consoles Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2006 and 2009 respectively--although those were developed by different studios. Notably, the Xbox 360 version of the game was the first Xbox Live Arcade title to hit one million downloads.
Ubisoft's Uno will have online and social features. Players will be able to drop in and out of games and be able to utilise voice and video chat. The game will feature weekly and global leaderboards.
For the first time, the game will also allow players to set personalised house rules. Uno will support up to four players online and up to two players offline. The game will use the following rules as standard:

    • Stacking: When a Draw Two or Wild Draw Four is played, play the same type of card to add to the penalty and pass it down to the next player.
    • 7-0: Playing a 7 allows you swap hands with another player, and playing a 0 forces all players to take their hand and pass it down in the order of play.
    • Jump-In: Whenever a card is played, if you hold an identical card, you may play that card out of turn.
