Battlefield 1 isn't the only World War I shooter coming to consoles this year. Verdun, from creators M2H and Blackmill Games, is also on the way, but now we've learned Xbox One players will have to wait longer to play.
In an announcement on Steam (via VideoGamer.com), the developers said the Xbox One version has been delayed, though the PlayStation 4 edition remains on track to come out on August 30.
[IMG]"Although we would have loved to release Verdun on both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 at the same time, we regret to inform you that the Xbox One release is postponed," the team said. "We hope to get the game as soon as possible on this great platform. Yet in order to deliver you a true trench warfare experience we need a little more time."
There was no explanation provided for the delay. However, the studio said it was a "difficult decision" to make because the team "take our releases seriously."
There is no new release date for the Xbox One version. The console editions are being made by Abstraction Games, which worked on versions of A Boy and His Blob, Hotline Miami 2, and Don't Starve, among others.
Verdun has been available on Steam since April 2015 where it has a "very positive" user rating. GameSpot's review scored the shooter a 6/10.
The game claims to be the first "realistic" multiplayer first-person shooter set in World War I. The squad-based game features trench warfare as well as period-accurate weaponry and uniforms. It's inspired by the infamous Battle of Verdun in 1916 and also features maps based on real battlefields in France and Belgium.
As for Battlefield 1, it comes out in October for consoles and PC. A beta for the DICE-developed game starts on August 31, one day after Verdun comes out on PS4.
