Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Needs To Sell 2 Million Copies To Make A Profit
Resources created during development could speed up other titles

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild needs to sell 2 million copies worldwide to recoup its development costs and turn a profit, according to Shigeru Miyamoto.
Speaking at a recent investors meeting - which has been superbly translated bit-by-bit by Twitter user Cheesemeister3k - Miyamoto confirmed that 2 million copies is the magic number, and that the title will be considered a hit if it manages to clear 300,000 copies in its native Japan.

Miyamoto also stated that the game has 100 people working on it currently, and the credits list contains 300 people. It has already been confirmed that Monolith Soft is assisting Nintendo with development.
Interestingly, the legendary designer claimed that the title's five-year development cycle will benefit future games. To elaborate on this point, general manager of Nintendo's Entertainment Planning and Development Division Shinya Takahashi explained that the company can create 'compact titles' by sharing resources from Breath of the Wild's development.
