Independent developer Cornfox & Bros has announced that its Zelda-like adventure game, Oceanhorn, is getting a more ambitious-sounding sequel. The follow-up will be called Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm. In a blog post, the developer said this game, which aims to be a callback of sorts to Japanese role-playing games, has been in the works for about a year already.
As you can see, the big change is that Oceanhorn 2 is not a top-down game like the first one, but instead uses a third-person camera to bring players closer to the action. Additionally, the sequel stars a new character, an unnamed young man that you can see in the image below.
[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]"Oceanhorn 2 will be built upon the same elements that were the heart and soul of the first Oceanhorn game: exploring a colorful world, a deep backstory with secrets and twists, amazing music, and most importantly, classic action-RPG gameplay with items, puzzles, battles, and badass bosses!" Cornfox said.
The game's battle system includes swordfighting and spell-casting. Additionally, there is a new weapon, the Caster gun, that shoots "magical projectiles." Players must also learn how to use items creatively to solve puzzles and defeat enemies and bosses.
Corfox shared an image of Oceanhorn 2's map (see it in the gallery above), which is described as "vast," though no comparison to the original's was provided. You'll explore places like fields, forests, mountains, and water areas. Like other JRPGs, there is a hub world that you'll start at before going out on your way.
"For us, Oceanhorn 2 is the fulfillment of a JRPG dream. It is a dream of running down green fields with the warmth of the sun on your face," Cornfox, a team of five developers, said in a statement. "It is a dream of learning the secrets of ancient ruins despite the danger. It is also a dream of finding yourself looking at beautiful mountains on the horizon and imagining what's beyond them. It will be an amazing journey ahead of us and we hope that you will join us on that journey!"
Cornfox will share more details on Oceanhorn 2 in the coming months. No release date has been set, while there was also no mention of platforms. You can listen to some of the game's peaceful music in the YouTube video below.

The first Oceanhorn is available on PC and mobile devices right now. It's coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on September 7.
